Why do you write? What is your motivation?  Your purpose?
I write because I enjoy writing.
Writing is my hobby.
Writing is the way that I wrap my brain around the problems and issues that I encounter every day as a teacher, a writer, a wife, and a mom.
Writing is thinking. In my class, you will write every day for the first fifteen minutes of class. I call this your DAILY PAGES. You need a journal in which to write. Your journal can be a store bought type that is especially made for that purpose.
It can be a composition notebook or a spiral notebook. It can even be a journaling app on your device. I use Evernote as my go to writing app.
You will bring your journal to class everyday and be prepared to write.
Your journal is your safe place to express yourself. To vent. I will not grade your journal. You do not have to share your journal with anyone, not even me. Your journal is for you. It is to help you get in the habit and flow of writing every day.
When you write in your journal, you do not have to worry about grammar, usage, or mechanics. You are writing for you.
Expectations for Daily Pages
You will bring your journal to class everyday.
You will write in your journal everyday.
You will not interrupt me or anyone else while we are writing our Daily Pages.
You will write the entire time.
You will take the art of writing very seriously.

Now, let's begin.
