Writing in Chronological Order
Tomorrow, my middle schoolers come back to school from their Christmas holidays. The students will create a timeline of their holiday. I will teach them how to use transition words effectively. The students will then write a narrative about their holiday in chronological order. They will exchange papers and analyse their partner's paper for organisation.
The students will be learning about characterization and setting. The summative assessment due date is January 22. Our PLC has planned our summative assessments for the year. We test every two weeks.
I would like to go ahead and plan the syllabus for next year. That would also make a good post. Our next summative is February 5. The tested items are theme and plot. I need to make the tests for next year.
When students write in chronological order, the focus trait is organisation. It is important that students learn that all narratives have a beginning, middle, and end. Having the students create a timeline is important for helping them organise their narrative.
The students will have to show their timeline before they draft their narrative. Since my lesson is on using transition words effectively, I expect to see the students using strong and logical transitions.
And just for fun...
